Samuel Brand, one of the oldest citizens of the county, died at his home at Dayton on Monday afternoon. The funeral took place Wednesday morning (January 9) at 11 o'clock, from the Presbyterian church in Dayton, Rev H M Rogers officiating; interment in Dayton Cemetery.

Mr Brand was born in Tippecanoe county, February 20, 1837; was married to Sarah A Peter, April 11, 1860, who survives him; He united with the Presbyterian church in 1869, and has ever since been an honored member. Mr Brand was one of the pioneers of the county, and had lived an honored life in the community.
