Mr. Henderson was Jan 9, 1876, in Glasgow, Mo., and as a yourth earned a master's degree in chemical engineering. Before he started a career in chemistry, a cousin, Jefferson Hendeson, invited him to come to Elko to help out at the Hendeson Banking Co, "for a few months."
He arrived in Elko in the early 1900's, liked the peopler and the area, and stayed with the bank for a number of years.
Subsequently, he operated an accounting, insurance and real estate business and during the years of his retirement devoted his time to his home and yard.
His wife was Anne Dewar, daughter of pioneer ranchers Mr. and Mrs James Dewar.
During his lifetime, Mr Henderson was an enthusiastic hiker and hunter and explored the Ruby Mountains both on foot and on horseback. He was interested in minig ventures at Bullion and Lone Mountain. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and a 59 year member of the Knights of Pythias. In his youth, he played on the Elko baseball team. He was a charter member of Elko Rotary Club and active in the Elks.
He died June 19, 1970, in a Shoshne, Idaho, rest home at the age 94. Survivors included a sister, Elizabeth of Marshall, Mo.; a son, Hayden Dewar Hendeson, Elko; two daughters, Orene Sewell of Elko and Isabelle Loomis, Whittier, Calif; nine grandchildren; and four great-grand children. His wife died in '1965.
His funeral was at Burns Funeral Home, officiated by the First Presbyterian Church, and burial was in the family plot of the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

Elko - Hayden Henderson Sr, a resident of Elko since the early 1900's died Friday morning in a Shoshone, Idaho rest home. He was 94.
Henderson born in Glasgow Mo on Jan 9, 1876, had moved to Idaho only two weeks ago.
After coming to Elko near the turn of the century, he engaged in business with the Henderson Banking Co. Later, he conducted an accounting business as well as dealing in land sales and development. He is survived by a son, Hayden Henderson Jr of Elko, Daughters Orene Sewell of Elko and Isobell Loomis of Whittier, California.
A Funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Chapel in Elko.
