Gary L. Hawk, 58, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 in his home of a sudden illness. Gary was born March 10, 1952 in Kenosha, WI to James and Judith (Hazlete) Hawk and lived in the area most of his life. On September 3, 1971 in Knox he was married to the former Pam Awald. Survivors include his wife, Pam; daughters, Carrie Ann (Michael) Avery of Hamlet and Jennifer (Curt) Benge of Plainfield and grandchildren, Kevin and Jeffrey Avery and Kayla, Sierra and Payton Benge. Gary was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force. He was very active in the American Legion, serving as Commander for the Hamlet American Legion Post #356 and was the District 2 Sergeant of Arms. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Dessert Storm and Enduring Freedom. He was currently employed at the Porter County Airport as a lineman.
