NAPPANEE - Michael "Mike" Murphy, age 55, 552 Broad St., Nappanee, died Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 3:02 p.m. in Elkhart General Hospital, after having an illness. He was born January 10, 1955, to Ben and Betty (Blucker) Murphy, who preceded him in death. He was a 1973 graduate of Northwood High School and a lifetime Nappanee resident. Mike was a Union Carpenter for over 30 years, working out of Local #413, South Bend, Indiana. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and writing songs. He loved spending time with his family, cooking, watching football, and he also liked the Chicago Bears. Surviving are three daughters, Wendy (Ryan) Briscoe, Mishawaka, Alisha Murphy, Bluffton, IN, Michelle Murphy, Bremen; a son, Benjamin (Stephanie) Murphy, Plymouth; three grandchildren, Sannah Grace Murphy, Jorden McCrum and Ryanna Briscoe; and a brother, Tim Murphy, Atwood. Cremation took place, and there will be a gathering of family and friends at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, on Saturday, December 18th, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a 2 p.m. service. Inurnment will be at Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous. Online condolences may be made at www.tlyfh.com.
