Mr. Austin W. Torrey, principal of the Seventh Ward Grammer School, who was injured by falling from a wagon on the day of the return of the 26th Regiment, died of his injuries on Wednesday evening, having been in a state of unconsciousness since the accident. The deceased was 34 years of age, and leaves a wife, Sarah L nee Wing, Torrey and a daughter, Helen E Torrey.

Mr Torrey was preceded in death by and infant son, Arthur E. Torrey and infant daughter Carrie L.

In his church relations he was alike esteemed and useful and at the time of his death held a position of Steward in the Broad Street M.E. Church. From the Sabbath School of that body, with which he was likewise connected, he will also be missed no less than from the church itself.

Mr. Torrey was a native of Berkshire County, Mass. He had been in New Jersey upwards of ten years. For a year or more he had been in charge of a public school at Irvington, but for nine years past he had been connected with the 7th Ward Public School of this city, first as an assisant teacher, and for the last six years as principal.
