Mrs. C. Schultz, County Pioneer, Taken by Death

Mrs. Charles Schultz, 68 years old, died Saturday of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Schultz was a pioneer of Emmet county and for more than 45 years has been in active worker in every good cause of the county. She has been confined to a local hospital for the past month. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. W. A. WinterStein officiating.

Mary Sevart Schultz was born April 11, 1861, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Sevart of Joliet, Ill. On September 12, 1878, at Joliet, she was married to Charles A. Schultz. She became the mother of eight children, the oldest one died in infancy. In 1884 Mr. and Mrs. Schultz moved to this community and purchased and improved a farm north of this city. They resided on the farm for 29 years and then moved to Estherville, making their home in a residence at the corner of Eighth and Pleasant streets. She was a regular attendant of church services and a faithful worker in various church societies.

She is survived by her husband, seven children, Walter Schultz and Mrs. C. A. Peterson of Estherville, Mrs. Frank Leupold of Superior, Mrs. W. M. Turner of Belle, Calif., Mrs. Fred G. Grantham of Ocheydan, Mrs. Walter Simpson of Palm Beach, Fla. and Frank Schultz of Pomona, Calif., and five sisters, Mrs. Susan Raab, Mrs. Theresa Ford, Mrs. Elizabeth Owen and Mrs. Katherine Gardner of Joliet, and Mrs. Josephine Freese of Cleveland, O.
