When I asked my grandmother about how she and my grandfather met, the following is what she told me....
She married Frank Wright Harris at the home of Thomas Judson "Jud" Covington in Quitman, Mississippi December 4, 1920. Grandma Ida Covington was her guardian. She was 17 years old. She wore a blue serge dress with black and red rick rack. Board Supervisor Dolaway Slay married them. They met at a box supper at Cedar Creek School. They "courted" from January to December before they married. They lived with Frank's parents for three months after they married. He called her "Sook" and she called him "Daddy." They farmed for a living raising cotton, corn, sweet and Irish potatoes and Spanish peanuts. They also raised milk cows and chickens. They had two sows and 16 pigs along with a horse named Charlie and two mules. They had a wagon and a 1925 Ford. My grandmother said they both had blue eyes.
Note: I'm so glad I asked my grandmother about this as I love this story. I don't think I would have found it on Ancestry.com. Caretaker
My grandmother's guardians Jud and Ida Covington can be found on Memorials 83501465, 83501498
