Mrs. Maxine Grace (Hershman) Walker, 90, of LaPorte, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at The Arbors, Michigan City.
She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Kouts, to Amos Franklin and Mary Margaret (Walters) Brown.
Mrs. Walker was a retired certified nursing assistant from Whispering Pines in Valparaiso and a member of LaPorte Assembly of God Church.
On May 27, 1935, in Valparaiso, she married Henry E. Hershman, who died March 3, 1981.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Barbara Wert; one sister, Lucille Rippel; one brother, Isic; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include four daughters, Malinda M. (Ray) Slagle and Deborah (Barry) Mills, both of LaPorte, Joyce (Larry) Biggs of Walkerton, and Judith (Tom) Schull of Michigan City; one son, Timothy (Nina) of Porter; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Brown of Logansport, Ind.
The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Newhard Funeral Home, Westville, with Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from noon until the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
