George E. MANCHESTER, 78, died at his home in Orwell Township early Friday morning. He was born in Warren Township March 25, 1878, the son of Iram and Harriet Pendleton Manchester. He is survived by his wife, Lulu Matteson Manchester; a son, Clarence of Battesburg, S.C.; two brothers, Ernest B. of Potterville and Alberdo of Glendale, Calif.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Miss Gazel Manchester, was killed when her car skidded while she was on her way to work Feb. 4. Mr Manchester was a member of Orwell Grange No. 1461, being the first master of the Grange when it was organized. The body has been removed to the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, Nichols, where friends may call between 7 and 9 this evening. Funeral services will be held in the Orwell Federated Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Orwell cemetery. The Rev. Norman Tiffany of the Rome Methodist Church will officiate.
