James Donald Bone, 81, of Wabash, Indiana died at 4:53 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his home. He was born January 18, 1929 in Wabash to Thomas and Sarah Marie (Bidwell) Bone.
Don was a graduate of Wabash High School. He married Meriam Ilene Tyson in Wabash on October 5, 1963; she died December 6, 2010. He retired from Dana Corporation in Marion, Indiana. Don, along with his wife Meriam, owned and operated Olde Canal House Cafe in Lagro. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and especially loved spending time with his family. He was a US Army veteran.
He is survived by ten children, Mary Anna Coe of Wabash, Indiana, Laura (Mike) Bradley and Miriam Linkenhoker, both of North Manchester, Cathy Carr of Burnsville, Minnesota, Tom (Kellye) Bone of Edmonds, Washington, Scot (Crisann) Bone of Wabash, Gary Bone of LaFontaine, Indiana, Dennis (Sharon) Bone of Roann, Lois (Calvin) Holley and Troy (Kristie) Bone both of Lagro; 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Harold Bone of Denver, Indiana, Charles (Jan) Bone of Leesburg, Indiana, Walter Bone of Sacramento, California, and Bruce Bone of Mahomet, Illinois; and a sister, Florence Van Buskirk of Elwood, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife Meriam, 2 brothers, Tom Bone, Jr. (Find A Grave Memorial# 10588148) & Verlin Bone, (Find A Grave Memorial# 33239694) and 5 sisters, Bernice Easterday, Eldora Middleton, Nancy Shell, Barbara Jean Bone, and Patty Bone.
Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Don Miller officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery. Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
