Timothy Peter Welp, 83, died at Pacific Communities Hospital, Toledo, Oregon on March 17, 1963.
He was born May 7, 1899, near Seneca, Kansas, to Henry & Mary Albertine Stallbaumer Welp.

He moved with his parents to Oregon in 1904, the family settled near The Dallas. In the early 1920's he worked on fur farms in Washington, Idaho and California. He moved to Yachats in 1926, where he built and operated Welp's Silver Fox Farm.

In 1939, he became chief deputy sheriff of Lincoln County and moved to Toledo. In 1944 he was appointed Lincoln County sheriff, holding the office until he resigned in 1953. He later worked as a watchman at Georgia-Pacific Lumber until he retired in 1961.

He was a life long member of the Catholic Church and was active in The Grange, organizing several Granges throughout the county.

Timothy married Grace Winifred Wolfe on December 30, 1923 in Portland, Oregon. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, David Peter Welp, Toledo, and James Henry Welp, Portland; two daughters, Albertina Myers, Camas, Washington, and Joanne Peterschmidt, Silverdale, Washington; five brothers, Louis Welp, Portland, Alphonse Welp, Mulino, Cyril Welp, Portland, Albert Welp, California and Charles Welp, Arlington; a sister, Ann Brandl of Kennewick, Washington; 25 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Daniel Paul Welp, who died May 16, 1955; Donald Timothy Welp, who died Nov 15, 1967; and John Thomas Welp, who died September 8, 1965.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Toledo. Internment in Eureka Cemetery, Newport, OR.
