Born in Adam County, PA and was the son of William and Esther Addams. At 2 yrs old, he moved with his father to Culpepper County, VA. He studied medicine at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY graduating in 1828. He then moved to Athens, AL where he met his wife, May A Coleman who was from Harrison County, KY. She was the daughter of Capt James coleman. They had 3 children together which had passed away by 1835. She had also passed away. He then married Mary T Wall daughter of Maj William Wall. They had 10 children of 8 had survived. After Abram’s death, Mary went to CO to live near his son in law.
The original surname was spelled Adams but his grandfather added the extra D to separate it from others with the same last name. Published in History of Scott Bourbon, Harrison and Nicholas Counties 1882 Page 307-308
