Patricia Jean Hitch Boyd, a woman who loved our Lord, passed away Saturday morning, December 4, 2010, after a long illness and now rests peacefully in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. "Pat, Patsy, Mom, Grandma" precedes us to our home in Heaven, leaving her beloved children, grandchildren, sisters, brother and friends with precious memories of her love, compassion, laughter and enjoyment of nature. Her greatest joys came from the Scriptures, worship, her devoted family, especially all her grandchildren, friends, sunsets, birds, flowers and purple! She was born on March 20, 1933 in Drumright, OK and was Valedictorian of her Class of 1951 at Drumright High School. She studied professional writing and journalism at the University of Oklahoma, as well as Phillips University in Enid, and worked as a journalist for several Oklahoma newspapers, including the Cushing Citizen and the Drumright Journal and Derrick. Surviving her are 2 sisters: Barbara Hitch Brewster and Carla Sue Hitch McGill; 1 brother, Garry Hitch and wife Shirley Hitch; 4 sons: David Boyd and wife Sherri Boyd, Ron Boyd and wife Sharon Boyd, Gregg Boyd, Don Boyd; 1 daughter, Karla Boyd; and 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michelle, Justin, Adam, Brady, Kimberly, Connor, Dru, Kristian, Kennedy, Avery, Collin, Makenzie, Owen and Carson. Services will be held Friday, December 10, 2010, at 10am at Church of the Servant, 14343 North MacArthur Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK 73143. Burial will follow in Cleveland, OK at the Woodland Cemetery at 3:30pm. A visitation and viewing will be held Thursday, December 9th, from 4pm-8pm at Vondel L Smith & Son Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the American Stroke Association in her memory, in lieu of flowers, if desired.
