According to his St. Louis, MO death certificate, William Cooper Blass was born October 6, 1853 in Conquest, NY to the union of Michael and Eliza Cooper Blass. He married Adelaide E. Butts, the daughter of Simeon and Lettisa Kellam Butts in Branch County, MO September 29, 1877. They were the parents of Lulu, Lewis (March, 1880-October 14, 1880) and Estella M. Blass. After daughter Lulu (nicknamed "Luly") and her husband Herbert Lamphere died near the turn of the century in Elkhart, IN, they moved in with youngest daughter Estella and her husband Walter J. Diehl and their family in St. Louis, MO. It was there that William died February 5, 1922. His body was brought to Fairhope, AL for burial. Eight years later, his wife would die in St. Louis and was also buried in Fairhope.
