Funeral services were held from the United Congregational church on Monday afternoon for Ludwig C Delzer, 88, long time resident of the Odessa area. The Rev H G Pfeiff officiated, with burial in the Odessa Cemetery. The Strate Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were William and Albert Beck, Weldon Haase, Julius Jasman, Arthur Deife and Kenneth Porter. Music was furnished by William Wenz and Mrs William Schmidt, with Mrs H G Pfeiff as organist. Born April 16, 1873, in Johannestahl, Russia, Mr Delzer came to America as a six-months old baby with his parents and the family located in North Dakota. He grew to manhood there. Following his marriage in 1898 to Miss Christine Janke, he located on a farm here in 1899. As a pioneer rancher he was one of the early operators of stationary threshing rigs, doing custom work for other ranchers, as well as handling his own farm operations. Mrs Delzer died in 1935, and the following year he remarried, to Mrs Julianna Reddinger, who died in 1958. For some time, due to advanced old age, he has been in a Spokane nursing home, where he died June 1. Survivors include four sons, Richard and Edwin Delzer of Odessa; Calvin Delzer of Spokane, and Herbert Delzer of Spangle; two daughters, Mrs Clarence Luce of Spokane and Mrs George Schoessler of Grandview; four Reddinger step-children, 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren."
