Ardmore — Naith William Key, son of the late Oscar C. and Oma Lee Adair Key, was born November 3, 1921, at Woodford, Oklahoma; he died in an Ardmore convalescent home after an extended illness Tuesday, December 7, 2010.



A resident here all of his life, he and the former Jacque Joy Welcher were married April 6, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas. Jacque preceded him in death March 18, 2008. His parents; a son, Naith William "Bill" Key Jr.; his brother, Bob Key; and a grandchild also preceded him in death.



During World War II, Naith served in the U.S. Army; a Sergeant and Artilleryman, he was in the battles and campaigns of Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.



A graduate of Ardmore High School, Naith had been the owner and operator of Key Feed and Seed, located at the corner of Broadway and A Street NE; he was of Presbyterian faith, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Playing cards, seeing his customers, visiting with friends and family were his most enjoyable times.



Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Key Stewart and her husband, Bill of Ardmore; a son, Terry Key and his wife, Joni of Lone Grove; granddaughters, Tami LaGrone, Shelly Key, Laura Bray, Jera Lynn Key; and a grandson, Jesse Rigney; also four great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Key.



Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.



Serving as bearers will be Tod Weder, Mike Oakes, Brian Burris, Bill Henderson, Raymond Wright and Warren Herriott. Honorary bearers include all former customers and friends.
