Daily Tribune – GEORGE KNAUFF SERVICE SET FOR TOMORROW – Services for George Conrad Knauff, 83, described as a pioneer in the development of the automobile self starter and electrical refrigeration equipment, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel at 2036 W. 79th st. Mr. Knauff, who lived at 1036 W. Garfield Blvd., died Tuesday in Wesley Memorial hospital. Many years ago, Mr. Knauff founded the former Chicago Electric company. From 1912 to 1927 he operated the Aid Manufacturing company. He then operated his own real estate brokerage business until 1939 and subsequently, until his retirement 2 or 3 years ago, he was engaged in the insurance brokerage business. He leaves his widow, Lillian R,; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Slanger and Mrs. Arvella Rackow; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
