Mrs. Thomas, retired county teacher, dies

Mrs. Cora Parker Thomas, 91, a retired elementary schoolteacher in Spotsylvania County, died Saturday at Riverside Convalescent Home.''Mrs. Thomas, a native and lifelong resident of Spotsylvania County, taught in the county school system for 20 years. She began teaching in a one-one schoolhouse and subsequently taught first at both R.E. Lee and Chancellor elementary schools. Mrs. Thomas also taught for a time at the Virginia School for the Deaf and blind in Staunton.

Mrs. Thomas taught Sunday school for 55 years at Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Morgan S. Thomas of Richmond of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Amy T. King, Mrs Bessie T. olive and Mrs. Sarah T. Beauchamp; a brother, Hugh C Parker; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur E. Lane, Mrs. John Swift and Mrs Clyde Smith.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Edward Johnson and the Reverend Robert Truslow will officiate.
