Our sweet Aunt Barbara passed away quietly in her home on Sunday, December 5, 2010. She resided at 1478 South 2000 East in the Foothill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.

Barbara was born December 15, 1925 in Circleville, Utah to her devoted parents Joseph A. and Lula Parker Betenson. She graduated from Piute High School and went on to train as a hairdresser.

She spent forty-three incredible years with the love of her life, Lee Carlson. The two were married on June 12, 1953, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved each other dearly, and can now spend eternity with one another.

Barbara's life was full of love and adventure. She lived in the historic Beehive house in Downtown Salt Lake before she and her sweetheart were married.

She spent most of her life in the Salons of The Paris Company and ZCMI doing what came easiest - lending a listening ear and a friendly face to her many clients.

She enjoyed traveling and had exciting experiences exploring the world with friends and family. She appreciated good food and great clothes, and had fun sharing those things with her loved ones.

Her family was her most prized possession, and Barbara was satisfied any time she was surrounded by them. Barbara's friends will miss concerts, plays, afternoon movie outings, and lunch dates together, and her family will miss the jokes and intense love she gave to everyone.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Barbara loved associating with ward members, and most recently spent thirteen wonderful years as a volunteer hostess at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

She is survived by three nieces and three nephews, Elaine, Nancy, Jill, Wade, Paul, and Mike, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and many surrogate grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and husband Lee, she is now reunited with the many people she had to say goodbye to. Barbara will be missed deeply by her neighbors and friends, and leaves behind a family who can't imagine life without her.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Chapel, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue (1460 South), Salt Lake City. A viewing prior to the services will begin at 9:30 that same morning.
She will be buried in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
