At the time of his death, Elbert was a resident of Glen Rio in Deaf Smith County, Texas and worked at a service station. He was survived by his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Lemons, whom he married in 1966, and a step-son Edwin Lee Skinner. Mary died in 1991 in Texas.
It's interesting that Elbert's occupation on his death certificate is service station attendant & his residence is Glenrio. Glenrio is now a ghost town. His claim to fame might be that he was the last service station attendant at the Phillips 66 "Last Stop in Texas"
