January 1949
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Keightly Funeral Home in Hopkinsville for Mrs. Pearl Greene Joiner, 55, who died suddenly at her home in the Oak Grove community of Christian County at 6 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Joiner had been in the usual state of health and had been to Hopkinsville Saturday shopping and visiting friends. Although death came before medical aid could be secured, it is believed a cerebral hemorrhage caused her death.
The Rev. Elvis Huffard pastor of the Hopkinsville Church of Christ, officiated.
The deceased was the daughter of the late Ada Harrell and Douglas Greene, having been born to them in the southern part of Trigg County, February 2, 1893. She spent the greater part of her life in this county.
At the age of 13 she united with the Joiner's Chapel Church of Christ and even though she moved away from that community before the death of her husband, she continued to hold her Church membership there.
In 1907 she was united in marriage to Icy Joiner, who preceded her to the grave fourteen years ago. There were two sons born of this union.
Interment was made in the Powell Cemetery in Lafayette. Pallbearers were: Lacy Joiner, Thurman Greene, Clarence Joiner, Ewing Joiner, Douglas Joiner and W.D. Shelby.
Survivors are the two sons, Arling Joiner who made his home with his mother, and Danison Joiner of Hopkinsvill; three sisters, Mrs. Burton Shelby, Elkton, Mrs. Floy Joiner, Hopkinsville and Mrs. Dorris Brown of Evansville, one brother, Harley Greene and a number of nieces and nephews and more distant relatives.
Mrs. Joiner had a host of relatives and friends in Trigg County who will be sad to learn of her death.
