NORTH JACKSON – Carol Willsey Bell, 71, resident of Clare Bridge in Austintown, died Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman, Pastor Paul Burgeson will celebrate.

Carol was born May 31, 1939, in Jamestown, N.Y., daughter of Alfred E. and Corinne P. Braun Willsey. She graduated in 1957 from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, N.Y., and attended college at Michigan State and Youngstown State Universities. She married Ralph Ross "Boots" Bell in May 17, 1958, and then moved to Youngstown in 1959.

Carol was a Certified Genealogist, who established and ran local history rooms in Warren and Trumbull County Public Libraries. Carol was a Genealogical Librarian and founded the Mahoning and Columbiana County Charters of the O.G.S. She wrote and edited the Bushong Bulletin Newsletter, and was a member of the Ohio Historical Society Library. Carol was a lifetime member of the Daughter of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society of Ohio, Daughters of 1812, the Ohio Genealogical Society and Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and First Families of Ohio.

Carol was also a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. She loved music and Broadway Theater, and most of all an avid lover of her cats.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Leslie A. (Russell Jr.) Redman of Columbus; her son, Christopher K. (Lissa LoSasso) Bell of North Jackson; and her grandson, Russell Redman III. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Ross "Boots" Bell who was a a local famous radio DJ from WHOT during 1960-1970 era.

Friends may call at the Bethel Lutheran Church Tuesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Material tributes can be made to Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashley Circle, Austintown, OH 44515.
