Mr. Martin Burns who lived near Stanley, this county, was killed on the railroad at that town last Saturday morning.
He had just returned from Martinsburg in company with a young man, James Stillwell, where they had been at work. They came on a freight train and both it is supposed were asleep when they reached Stanley and were carried through to Shenandoah.
They returned to Stanley on a freight train that reached that place about 2 a. m.
Mr. Stillwell went home and Burns' body was found about daylight, his head badly mashed and his brains expelling. He had brought home with him several pairs of shoes and had on his person about $12 in money. It is supposed he was killed in jumping from the train.
Mr. Burn's wife died about a year ago. He is survived by two children.
