Clifford "Peanut" Whitten
July 9, 1922 - November 28, 2018
Clifford "Peanut" Whitten, age 96 of Delight, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on July 9, 1922 in Greenwood, Texas the son of the late Darius and Myrtle Presley Whitten.
He was an iron worker for Reynolds Metals and retired after thirty-two years. Mr. Whitten attended the Bowen Community Church, and served in the United States Army during WWII, where he participated in the Anzio Landing in Italy.
Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years Dorothy Lee Whitten, a son Paul Whitten, two brothers Merle Whitten, Howard Whitten, and one sister Helen Whitten.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Whitten and wife Sharon of Delight, AR; David Walter Whitten and wife Diane of Milton, FL; two daughters, Mary Whitten Lippencott and husband John of Gladewater, TX; and Delores Whitten Hill and husband Ralph of Longview, TX; two brothers Hershel Whitten of Roseburg, IN; Neil Whitten of White City, OR; one sister Neoma Hill of Markle, IN; seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Murfreesboro Nursing Center.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, December 1, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 2, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
Burial will follow in Bowen Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
