Death certificate for Thomas J. Lemons who also rests here at New Bethel/Nubbin Ridge states his mother was Martha Hynes. New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church records show her maiden name spelled as Haines. But as noted in Richard Haines bio their descendants now spell it as Haynes.

Martha's burial here at New Bethel/Nubbin Ridge Cemetery is based on the plot map in the Church building that shows her buried next or the left of her husband George Washington Lemons. However, it is possible that she does not rest here as she died between 1870 and 1875, whereas the cemetery was not officially started until 1893 when her brother Richard Haines and Elizabeth Shockley Haines granted the one acre of land for the Church and Cemetery. The plot map was created probably sometime in the early 1990's in preparation for the Centennial Celebration of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and Cemetery.
