Scott was born on March 18, 1958, in Preston, Idaho, the son of William Lane and Ina Packer Bennett. He was raised in Preston and attended Preston High School. He lived in Preston until 1988, when he moved to Grace, where he has lived for the past 22 years.
Scott was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He married Nancy Wickham on February 21, 1980. They were later divorced.
He enjoyed fishing, tying flies, hunting, camping and other outdoor activities. He also liked to draw. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Nicole and Rusty Mortenson of Soda Springs. He is also survived by two step-grandchildren and two brothers, Kelly and Ranae Bennett of Grace, Idaho, Louis Bennett of Logan, Utah; and four sisters, Peggy and John Parker of Challis, Idaho, Sheryl and David Nelson of Nibley, Utah, Julie and Neal Butler of Orofino, Idaho, Bonnie and Ronnie Bevins of Soda Springs, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bud" and Ina Bennett, a brother, Lane Bennett, and two sisters, Cindy Dunkley and Mitzi Bosworth, and a niece, Allison Hunsaker-Chatterton.
