Piedmont-Mr. James Dudley "Jim" Word, 74, of Piedmont, went to be with his heavenly Father on November 27, 2010. Mr. Word was born was born on May 8, 1936, the son of the late Rev. Emory Anniston and Bertha Parrish Word. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 49 years, Betty Lou Steed Word word, and a son, Johnny Word.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Kathy) Word; two daughters, Tannie "T.J." (Johnny) Highfield, Secunda "Sam" McGatha; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; special family friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Word were 7 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Folsom's Heritage Chapel with Rev. Floyd Willis officiating. Private burial with the family was held at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad since Mr. Word and his wife served as EMT's for over 20 years.
