Julian Dahl 1882-1941

Four days after dropping dead in a wooded tract south of town, the body of Julian J. Dahl was found Monday after a mix up delayed an alarm and search. He was 60 years of age.
Mr. Dahl had been chopping wood and working off and on at the B.T. Johnson farm south of Bagley. He was there last Thursday, and decided to go tot the woods and work awhile. As the Johnson's were going to town later they asked if he wanted a ride in.. He told them that if he was not back when they left for town, he would walk to the road and catch a ride into town. He did not appear at the time they left, not later, so they believed he had gone to town as he had said.
Meanwhile his father and brother and sister, who live northeast of Bagley, believed him still at the Johnson farm. On Monday Bennie Dahl and sister Eva drove to the Johnson farm to see him. Upon comparing notes it became evident that something had happened in the woods, and they went there.
Mr. Dahl had evidently quit his work, and had picked up his axe and saw and started for the road. He had not gone far when his heart failed, and he dropped to the snow. The body was frozen when discovered. Coroner E.F. Cease, called to the scene, decided he had died a natural and sudden death.
Born July 31, 1882 in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Dahl. The family lived there for three years after his birth, then moved to McIntosh where they lived 19 years. Julian accompanied the family to Wilton where they lived for eight years, and then went with the family to North Dakota, where he spent 19 years. Married in 1912, at Langdon, North Dakota, his wife passed away in 1920, and in 1923 he moved to Bagley with his father, and had lived here since.
The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the I.O.O.F. hall, with Mr. Colstop of Blackduck in charge of the service. Interment will be made in the Bagley Cemetery, with the Neujahr Funeral Home in charge.
