Ada L. Hendon, 92 went home to be with her Lord on the afternoon of May 3, 2010. She was born in Morganton, N.C., October 9, 1917, and resided in Jacksonville since 1947. Mrs. Hendon is predeceased by her father and mother, Walter and Stella Murphy, sisters Lois Robinson, Elizabeth Murphy and Sadie Turner. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Homer L. Hendon for nearly 47 years, also two sisters, her precious Linda McConnell (Mac) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and her dear Genevive Gorman of Plant City, FL - three loved step children, Beverly Cooper (Harold), Lee Hendon, Raymond Hendon, Nephews Robert Murphy, David Murphy and Jim Turner. Nieces Carol Weiselogel, Betty Johnson, Darlene Hill and Kimberly Mercado. Five step-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren. Going home celebration will be held at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, May 7th at 11:00A.M. with Dr. Michael Riley and Mac McConnell officiating. Reception immediately following. The family request in lieu of flowers, please designate your memorial gifts in honor of Ada Hendon to Deermeadows Baptist Church Building Fund.
