Raneous Baker stricken fatally

Stricken while alone at his home, 509 South Cherry Street, Sunday morning, Raneous J. Baker died there about 10:30. The 74-year-old man had been out in his yard and apparently had gone back to the porch where his wife found him slumped over in the swing when she returned from church.

A plumber in Martinsville for many years, Mr. Baker had not been well for the last few months but had been working. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and had spent his life in this locality.

Born in Morgan County Oct. 27, 1884, he was the son of the late L. S. (sic) and Mary Ann Neal Baker.

He leaves his wife, the former Pearl Townsend; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne Rhea of Danville; three brothers and a sister, Demcy C., Ed, and Howard M. Baker of Martinsville and Mrs. Charles Thacker of Columbus.

The Rev. G. W. Adams will conduct his funeral services in the Cure and Hensley Chapel at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, with internment following in South Park Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening.
