Ollie Matilda Anderson, 89, a member of the Gilbert Anderson family which homesteaded along the Necanicum River in the 1880s, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Miss Anderson, who lived at 805 SW Vista Ave., was born May 11, 1881, in Fergus Falls, Minn., and came to Oregon at the age of 4. She was a graduate of Portland’s first high school. Her father was a Portland jeweler in the 1890s. He also made violins and organized a string quartet in which his daughter played.
Miss Anderson is survived by three nephews and a niece.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes. Interment will be in Lone Fir Cemetery.
