Royal House of Ivrea
Royal House of Plantagenet
Son of King Alfonso VIII of Castile and Princess Eleanor of England. Paternal grandson of King Sancho III of Castile and Blanca Ramírez of Navarre. Maternal grandson of King Henry II of England and Queen Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine.
From birth, he was heir to the throne of Castile. In 1203, Diego of Acebo (the future Saint) Dominic travelled to Denmark to secure a bride for him from that country.
Unfortunately, Infante Fernando died soon after returning from campaigning against the Moors, before he could be married. At his death, he was twenty-two years old.
