Brown Caves in the late 1860's.

Mr. Caves, a wagon master, led an immigrant train to Texas. They camped near some springs for a few-days rest. They found good hunting and water and decided it was the place they had been searching for.

Mr. Caves obtained a land grant large enough for all the people on the wagon train.

The people held a meeting and voted to let Mr. Caves have the land surrounding the springs, and he gave 2 acres for a church-and cemetery, The people honored him by naming the community "Caves Springs".
