Ellen R. Knox, 73, Rt. 2 Chanute, died Tuesday at Westview Nursing Home at Chanute. She was born April 21, 1908, at Dexter to Joseph Eli and Lisie Barnhart. She married John O. Ashbury Sept. 20, 1924, and died Jan. 6, 1968. She then married Robert P. Knox Oct. 5, 1968, who died July 3, 1969, She married Harold Gooch Oct. 7, 1970. She lived in Winfield from 1936 to 1970, and was a psychiatric aid at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for 18 years, retiring in 1970. She moved to Ponca City in 1970 and to Chanute in 1978. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Winfield. Mrs. Knox is survived by three sons, Loren, of Tishomingo, Okla., Wayne, Arkansas City, and John, Winfield; two daughters, Sharon Widener, of Buffalo and Elizabeth Dauber, Wellington; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Swisher-Taylor Morris Chapel and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. (Obit found in a family scrapbook clipping)
