Texas Coaster May 5, 1949
Richmond was shocked Tuesday evening when the news spread that little Lastie Donat Broussard,Jr., small son of Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Broussard of Richmond, had been struck by a train and killed. The accident happened at approximately 6:30 P.M. when the Southern Pacific passenger train Nol 7 struck the child.
The tragedy happened behind the Broussard home. The child, who would have been two in August, was playing in the back yard and apparently strayed to the track. Dr. Joe c Much, who was crossing the track at a nearby crossing, was the first to the scene and said that the baby was killed instantly. The train did not pass over the child, but struck it in the head.
Little "Sonny" Broussard is survived by his parents, two sisters: Sally Ann and Nancy Eugenia; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. Broussard, Sr. of Rayne, La. and Mrs. H. A. Hudson of Lake Arthur, La.
