Nortonville News (12 December 1924) Page 1, Column 5. "Adam Hellmer, Sr. Dead" Nortonville was shocked Monday morning, Dec. 8, by the sudden death of Adam Hellmer, Sr. Hemerhage was the cause of his death. Mrs. Hellmeer was in his usual health until Monday morning at 3:30, when his wife was awakened by his coughing, and before she could summon help Mr. Hellmer had passed away. Mr. Hellmer was born Jan. 22, 1845, Belheim Rinefelt, Bavaria, Germany. He came to this country int he fall of 1871, and was married the following fall to Agnes Anders. To this union, three children were born; George Helmer of Olpe, Kansas.; Frank Helmer, and Anna Erpelding of Nortonville. Mr. Hellmer was buried Wednesday morning at 9:30, from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Badrean, and burial at the Catholic Cemetery. The deceased was a modest, unassuming man, a man who said but little and meant what he said, and who practiced rather than preached, bequeathing to those who knew him an example of simple sincerity and quiet kindliness.
