The Rev. W. E. Armfield, pioneer Methodist minister and church leader of Spokane, died yesterday afternoon at the Deaeness Hospital. The Rev. Mr. Armfield had devoted the past 30 years of his life to church work. He was known to congregations from points in eastern Oregon to the British Columbia line. The Rev. Mr. Armfield came to Spokane in 1905. He furnished the Manito and Grace Methodist churches here.

Funeral services will be held from Smith & Co.'s at 2 p.m., tomorrow. The Rev. Louis Magin, the Rev. Robert Warner and a number of other pastors will officiate.

The Rev. Mr. Armfield is survived by his widow and eight children.
