Kenneth C. Ebert, 79, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of Green Township in Noble County, died unexpectedly at 11:09 a. m. Friday at his residence.

Mr. Ebert was born on November 11, 1927 in Allen County, a son of Charles and Juanita (Hollopeter) Ebert. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, and served with the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Following his military discharge he was married in Fort Wayne on May 26, 1950 to Roberta J. "Bert" Liggett. The couple lived in Green Township for 48 years until moving to Churubusco in 2005.

He was formerly employed at Essex Wire in Fort Wayne for a number of years, and later retired in 1990 from General Electric in Fort Wayne. He was also engaged in farming in Green Township, and was a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 857 in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Ebert preceded him in death on December 21, 2005.

The surviving relatives include his daughters Sandra (Steven) Smith of Tucson, Ariz., and Terri (Kenneth) Sperone of Fort Wayne; a son Ronnie L. Ebert of Columbia City; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Bailey; and by a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Timothy Grable, pastor of Sugar Grove Church of God, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Sunday from 2 to 6 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Monday.

Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, with military graveside rites.
