Mafalda Cogburn
SPRINGFIELD — The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Mafalda A. Cogburn of Springfield who died Nov. 28 of dementia. She was 83.
She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Nicola and Carmela Volpicelli Cutaneo.
She married Lawrence Cogburn on May 24, 1947, in Scottsdale, Ariz. He died Jan. 26, 1988.
She was a homemaker and worked as a reading teacher and interior designer.
Survivors include four sons, Eugene, Michael, Paul and Steve, all of Springfield; two sisters, Rene Defeo and Viola Schmale, both of New York; and nine grandchildren. A granddaughter, Alyssa Nicole, died previously.
