W.E. Jenkins, age 77, died Wednesday morning, August 8, in the Bulloch County Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was a native of Tattnall County but he had lived in Bulloch County for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lilla Pelote Jenkins of Brooklet; one daughter, Mrs. H.L. Ludwig of Miami; four sons, George W. Jenkins of Pembroke, Hubert, Talmadge and Thomas Jenkins, all of Brooklet; two brothers, S.W. Jenkins of Statesboro and B.L. Jenkins of Cedartown; six sisters, Mrs. Lee Stewart and Mrs. Lonnie Conley, both of Statesboro, Mrs. Fred Davis of Tifton, Mrs. George Rowan and Mrs. E.L. Beasley, both of Savannah and Mrs. John Patty of Center, Ala.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Barnes Funeral Home in Statesboro by the Rev. David Blalock and interment was in the Brooklet Cemetery, with barnes Funeral Home in charge. Nephews served as active pallbears.
