When Minerva's first child was only six weeks old, the Stephenson's came to Texas with her older brothers John Gaines Biard, Andrew J. Biard and William Washington Biard. They all settled in or near Biardstown. Later Minerva Jane and family moved over near Aud's Creek, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Her children were Matilda Ann (b.1846), Rebecca Frances (1848-1897), George W. (1850-1899), Mary Ellen (1852-1917) and John Logan Stephenson (1854-1857).
