Dorothy Lucille Porter, age 93, of High Point, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016, at Moniteau Care Center in California.
She was born January 26, 1923, in rural California, the second oldest daughter of Emmett O. and Ruth Melissa Jenkins Rohrbach. On January 26, 1945, in Moultrie, Georgia, Lucille was united in marriage to Kenneth Porter, who preceded her in death October 21, 1999.
She was a 1941 graduate of California High School.
Before she married she worked at the pants factory in California.
Following her marriage she stayed busy raising her children and helping her husband on their farm.
She was a faithful member of the Corticelli Baptist Church.
Lucille enjoyed working outside in her garden, tying quilts and the challenge of jigsaw puzzles. She was a marvelous cook and also enjoyed baking. However, her family was her greatest treasure and the time spent with them were her most cherished moments.
Survivors include six children, Dianna Robnett of Jefferson City; Leroy Porter and wife Cheryl; Janet Allen and husband Charlie; Dwayne Porter and wife Esther and Jerry Dean Porter and wife Charlene all of High Point and Marla Amos and husband Gary of Russellville; nine siblings; Rosa Scott of California; Marion Dykes of Kingsport, Tennessee; Lyda Rohrbach of California; Larna Morris and husband Gerald of California; Loyd Rohrbach and wife Judy of Jefferson City; Doris Easley and husband Bill of Cassville; Jimmy Rohrbach and wife Patsy of California; Marvin Rohrbach and wife Cheryl of Kingdom City and Glen Rohrbach and wife Nancy of California; fifteen grandchildren, Jeffrey Robnett, Bradley Robnett and wife Amy, Kim Baker, Doug Porter and wife Melanie, Amy Wright and husband Will, Mandy Asbury and husband Tyler, Shelly Davis and husband Matt, Marci Porter, Landon Porter and wife Jennifer, Keely Dearixon and husband Bryan, Leah Porter, Ryan Porter and wife Megan, Tony Amos and wife Alicia, Ellen Amos and Molly Amos, twenty-six great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Jerry Robnett, five siblings, Erma Wilhelm, Paul Rohrbach, Ruby Rohrbach, John E. Rohrbach and Carol Barbour, a grandson, Jared Porter, and a great granddaughter.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, at the Corticelli Baptist Church, 57731 Highway C, Russellville, MO 65074, with Dr. Rick Seaton officiating. Interment will be in the High Point Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, at the Corticelli Baptist Church.
