James R. Medlen, 67, California, died Dec. 7, 1999, at California Care Center.
He was born June 19, 1932, a son of Charles and Hettie Pennington Medlen.
He was a member of High Point Baptist Church.
He worked as a mechanic, an independent stock hauler and a used car salesman for various dealers, including Richland Auto Sales.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth Ray Medlen, Mobile, Ala.; three daughters, Debbie Burger, California, Diane Ganpott, country of Grenada, and Karen Smith, Wallis, Texas; one brother, Clyde Medlen, High Point; three sisters, Gertrude Lehr, Albany, Ore., Elaine Kniesley, Long Beach, Calif., and Opal Mae Meyer, California; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One son, Steven Ross Medlen, died Dec. 7, 1975.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Frank Whitney will officiate.
Burial will be in High Point Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 1316 Parkade Blvd., P.O. Box 1013, Columbia, Mo. 65205; or Dialysis Clinic Inc., 144 Scott Station Road, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
