Emil Svaleson 1910-1966

Emil Svaleson, age 56, passed away suddenly at the St. Francis Hospital in Crookston on November 3, 1966. He had been a patient at the hospital for eight days prior to his passing.
Mr. Svaleson was born in Pine lake Township on March 25, 1910, to parents John and Gurena Svaleson. His mother passed away in 1915 and the fayjer in 1922, so Mr. Svaleson was raised by the Stephen Winden family in Gonvick.
In 1940 he moved to Roseau and worked there until six years ago, when he started working for the Donald Simonson family of rural Crookston. Mr. Svaleson never married.
Survivors include his sister Mrs. Damond Westrum (Gena) of Clearbrook, and three brothers, Joseph Haugen of Clearbrook, Conrad Riste of Salem, Oregon, and Gilbert Svaleson of Clearbrook. two nephews and one niece also survive. Mr. Svaleson was also preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral servcies were held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Samhold Lutheran Church of Gonvick. The Rev. E.M. Berg of Gonvick officiated and burial was made in the Samhold Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home.
