Robert Boyce was born in Elmore, Vermont August 6,1836. He & his wife,Ellen A. Davison(1846-1922), had eight children. At his death four survived; Harry, Fred, Maude Wells, and Herbert. He was also survived by 20 grandchildren,and 7 great-grandchildren,as well as a half sister, Lydia Hayford
Robert enlisted in September of 1862, In Company I of the 11th Regiment,Vermont Volunteers. He served for the Union cause, and was honorably discharged May 13,1865.
