W. H. Ivie died at his home, 611 East Washington street, Saturday night, aged 63 years. Mr. Ivie suffered an attack of acute indigestion a week prior to his death, and his condition never improved. He belonged to one of the pioneer families of Adair county. His parents conducted one of the first hotels in Kirksville, and Mr. Ivie is said to have been the second white child born in the town. He leaves a wife and one son, Dr. Horace Ivie, of Berkeley, Calif., who arrived in Kirksville Saturday night. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Stacy McGuire, Mrs. John L. Porter, and Mrs. Sallie Wood, all of Kirksville. A short funeral service was held at the home Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock, and the body was then taken to St. Louis for cremation.
