William LeGay Beck, 87, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, February 24, 2008.

He was born in Alpine, Utah December 29, 1920 the second son in a family of eight children of James Henry and Buena Ethel Healey Beck. Gay served his country for four years in the Navy and served a two year LDS mission in the Southern States Mission. Gay married Lois Helen Shepherd in the Salt Lake LDS Temple October 7, 1948. He worked for Utah Power and Light in American Fork and Richfield. He returned to Alpine in 1976. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing pigeons, gardening and puttering around in his shop and spent many hours making wood projects. He was active in the LDS church and served in many positions. He and his wife Lois served in the Provo Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Lois and their four children: Norine (Dennis) Nelson, South Jordan; Douglas (Alane) Beck, Arcadia; Karen (Dean) Bybee, South Jordan; and Janeen (Mario) Hernandez, Lafayette, CA; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and sisters: Carla (Dick) Shepherd and Merla (Leo) Reimshciissel.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mountainville 2nd Ward, 165 North 100 East, Alpine, Utah where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial in the Alpine City Cemetery under the direction of Anderson & Sons Mortuary.
