Nancy Nash Eskridge, the daughter of George Eskridge and Elizabeth Robinson, was born on December 15, 1792. She was married twice. Her first husband was Travis Herndon, of whom Francis Eskridge Herndon and Travis Herndon Jr. were siblings. Francis was probably born in either Fleming co., KY, or Grayson Co., KY. Travis was born in Grayson Co. Their parents migrated to Kentucky from VA. Travis Sr. is listed on the 1810 census, Fleming Co. living near his father in law George Eskridge. In 1811, they were in Grayson Co. Travis Sr. died sometime between 1815-1819.


Nancy married second husband Elias K. Porter, Grayson Co, KY, who served as a Private during the War of 1812 in Captain Ambrose Arthur's Company, Boswell's Regiment, Kentucky Volunteers. Date of appointment or enlistment: April 29, 1812; To what time engaged or enlisted: May 31, 1812 (Source: Soldiers of the War of 1812, page 81).

Nancy Nash Porter died on September 11, 1853. She was survived by her husband Elias Porter. She was buried in the Eskridge (Bend) Cemeteery.
