...This community was shocked Tuesday morning when the news came of the death of William Ferman. His death occurred at Graham, Missouri where he and his wife had located for the summer.
...His remains were brought to La Plata and taken to the home of his son, Kent Ferman, where funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, at 2:30, conducted by Rev. J.W. Green of Marceline.
...William Curtis Ferman was born in Henry County, Illinois on August 3, 1866 and died in Graham, Missouri on March 24, 1931, at the age of sixty-four years, seven months and twenty-one days.
...He was married to Alice Greenig on May 24, 1887 and to them were born six children, five whom survive, Mrs. Winnie Anna Akins having preceded her father September 16, 1914. The surviving children are Frank Wendel Ferman of Wells, Nevada, Wade Kent Ferman of La Plata, Ralph Sidney Ferman of Camden, Missouri, Ethel Marie Allison, Sugar Creek, Missouri and Ray Leo Ferman of Wells, Nevada.
...His wife died January 20, 1906 and he was married December 29, 1910 to Mrs. Elsie Matthews. She, with the above named children, one step-daughter and one step-son, six grandchildren and five step grandchildren survive. He also leaves one brother, George Ferman, of La Plata.
...Mr. Ferman and his family came from Illinois and located on a farm west of La Plata and have lived here practically the rest of his life, altho he was working at Graham, Missouri at the time of his death.
...He became a member of the church at Cardy, Missouri in 1915 and was a man who live christianity in his every day life. He will be sadly missed by all his loved ones, his friends and those for whom he worked, for dad, as he was lovingly known, was a friend to all.
