Roy Elvin Alexander, 78, a native of Marshall, Texas, and a resident of Houma, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.

Visitation was at First United Methodist Church, 6109 La. 311 in Houma. Service was at the church, with burial in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Voisin Alexander; one son, Bruce Alexander and wife, Sharon; two daughters, Charmaine Alexander and companion, Danny Raffray, and Roxanne A. Gee and husband, Frankie; three stepsons, John Haglund, Darryl Domangue and wife, Gayle, and Kaylen Domangue and wife, Amanda; three stepdaughters, Roslyn Billiot, Lisa Cunningham and husband, Gary, and Carla Porche and husband, Paul; seven grandchildren, Jason Alexander, Sara Alexander, Chelsea Alexander Breaux, Terrell Matherne III, Matthew Matherne, Joshua Malbrough and Aarence Price III; four great-grandchildren, Trey Matherne, Cameron Matherne, Aarence Price IV and Cole Malbrough; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby A. Kelly and Bessie Faye York; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Geoffrey Alexander; his parents, Lotis Mack Alexander and Nora Emeline Hopkins Alexander; his first wife, Claudette Golden Alexander Morgan; second wife, Frances G. Haglund Alexander; five brothers, J.D. Alexander, Edward Worbington, Clyde Alexander, Therman Alexander, Ray Alexander; and four sisters, Lerine Alexander, Inez Nunez, Dorothy Clarke and Carrol Harrison.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3700 and the American Legion Post 31. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the Navy Sea Bees. He loved working overseas for McDermott. He enjoyed playing cards and golf.
